Good summer reading

I've read the thirteen-year-old's Atomic Robo trade now, and I have to say that I'm impressed--very enjoyable, very readable, very kid-friendly. I'm going to suggest the nine-year-old read it the next time she's claiming to be "bored." (I have no sympathy for kid boredom--it's summer, there are books and toys and comics all over, not to mention the computer and the PS2 and bikes and a tire swing and a nice big yard and a nosy cat, so anyone who is "bored" just isn't thinking. :))

She prefers trades when she can get them, so I'm guessing we'll wait for the next one rather than getting the upcoming run.

So this is my question...

Did your thirteen year old (who I am assuming from this post is female) pick up the TPB of Atomic Robo herself?

If so...fantastic!

Jon - It was a semi-surprise for her, as she didn't know there was one available until I handed it to her in the store. :) So she didn't actually pick it out, but she certainly would have if she'd known it was there.

She read the Atomic Robo story in that Free Comic Book Day comic, and she immediately loved it, so it was definitely a book for her

That is the coolest thing I have ever heard. I have a young daughter and I dream that she will enjoy some of these books.

And Atomic Robo was one of our (Me Geek, You Geek's) favorite. Fantastic! What else does she read if you don't mind me asking.

She actually reads most of what we get. She tends to ask specifically for books like Teen Titans or Runaways, but that may be because I don't tend to get them for myself so they're not already in the box. Most recently she's asked for Amazing Spider-Man.

I just asked her, and she mentioned Birds of Prey specifically (another title featuring some younger heroines these days, come to think of it).
